AnnotationThe seven studies in this special section in the Medical Sciences section of Journals of Gerontology: Series A indicate the diversity of research on with multidimensional geriatric assessment (MGA) and comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA). Four of the articles describe three randomised controlled trials (RCTs), including two Dutch home visit trials and the identification of at-risk older people in their own homes. Other subjects covered are 'Guided Care', an enhanced model of primary care; use of the Minimum Data Set (MDS); and developing practical measures predictive of general functional decline. (RH).
