Annotation | India's age 60+ population is projected to increase from 77 million in 2001 to 177 million by 2025, with the proportion rising from 7.5% currently to 11.5% in 2025. In the developed world, the projected average is estimated at 28.2% for age 60+ in 2025. This article considers the implications of this "rising grey line" for the families of older people in India and for financial independence in retirement. It notes examples of good practice in the provision of assistance to older older people. (RH). |
