Annotation | The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator for all healthcare and adult social care in England, and the evidence which it has collected since coming into operation on 1 April 2009 informs this response to the Green Paper, 'Shaping the future of care together' (Cm 7673; July 2009). CQC stresses the urgency for "swift progress" on the need for reform of the system. This CQC briefing includes comment on: self-funders; the funding system; younger adults; carers; the universality of a National Care Service; regulation; establishing the research and evidence base for social care; the relationship between a National Care Service and the National Health Service (NHS); and workforce issues. CQC believes that debate needs to be taken forward swiftly and to seek cross-party support to enable early conclusions and implementation of solutions. (RH). |
