Annotation | On 1 April 2009, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) assumed responsibility for regulating the quality of health and adult social care in England, and for looking after the interests of people detained under the Mental Health Act. The Commission brings together the work of the former Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), the Healthcare Commission, and the Mental Health Act Commission (MHAC). This booklet explains the CQC's plans for the five years to 2015 to make sure that people who use health and social care services receive better care. It outlines CQC's responsibilities as the regulator of health and social care, taking swift action about poor quality care, and in promoting high quality care. (RH). |
