Annotation | On 1 April 2009, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) assumed responsibility for regulating the quality of health and adult social care in England, and for looking after the interests of people detained under the Mental Health Act. The Commission brings together the work of the former Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), the Healthcare Commission, and the Mental Health Act Commission (MHAC). This publication outlines the CQC's role and activities as regulator and how it plans to carry out its responsibilities over the next five years. The CQC invites responses to this consultation by 24 December 2009. Its final plan will be published in early 2010. (RH). |
