Annotation | Integrated services mean many old people can stay out of hospital while receiving care. This article looks at the Partnerships for Older People Projects (POPPs) scheme jointly run by NHS Brent and Brent Council. It discusses major benefits of POPPs, namely that it reduces or avoids admissions of older people to hospital, improves their quality of life, and are also cost-effective. Brent is one of the 29 pilot areas for the POPPs programme which began in 2005. (RH). |
