AnnotationGovernment policy that crisis resolution teams (CRTs) should treat older people on the basis of need may not be reflected in practice. Two previous naturalistic studies have described older people's outreach and home treatment teams that have reduced admissions. The authors report on a study they conducted of all 79 trusts in England providing acute mental health services with at least one CRT. They found that, despite explicit government policy, less than a third of areas had a policy of offering the same CRT service to older and younger adults. However, a number of services were considering or planning crisis service expansion for older people. (RH).
