Annotation | Developing a consistent quality of dementia care across any organisation can be a great challenge. The author introduces PEARL (Positively Enriching And enhancing Residents' Lives), an accreditation scheme intended to promote positive practices across Four Seasons Health Care dementia homes in the UK. The article outlines the development of PEARL using publications such as the NICE/SCIE dementia guidelines (2006); and lists the criteria against which a home is assessed. It looks at how care home staff have used the project to develop specific areas of their work and to enhance the home's environment for residents. (RH). |
