Annotation | It is three years since the Social Exclusion Unit's 'A sure start to later life' was published. The author of this article looks at how that publication has inspired the development of some innovative projects to improve the health and well-being of older people and to reduce their social isolation. She refers to schemes in Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire and Leeds under LinkAge Plus, and in Calderdale, Somerset and North Lincolnshire under the Partnerships for Older People Projects (POPPs).
