AnnotationThe aim of LinkAge Plus was to test the limits of holistic working between central and local government and the voluntary and community sector, with a goal of improving older people's well-being. This report brings together key findings on the costs and benefits of LinkAge Plus from across eight pilot areas, as well as drawing on wider literature on the benefits of preventative services for older people. The pilot areas (Gateshead, Leeds, Salford, Nottinghamshire, Tower Hamlets, Lancaster, Gloucestershire and Devon) variously worked on themes around independence (e.g. falls prevention and transport), social inclusion (e.g. preventing social isolation and including older people in decision-making), and support to live at home (e.g. home adaptations and security). Thus, there is no one LinkAge Plus model, with each of the eight areas taking a different approach based on the needs of older people in their area. However, there were common themes based around stronger partnership working, better information and access to services, and putting older people at the centre of service design and delivery. Taken together, this can be said to represent a "LinkAge Plus approach". (RH).
