Annotation | Too often, the children of parents with mental health issues are taken into care, because their needs as a family go unnoticed. The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) has been reviewing existing health and social care services practice. The resulting report, 'Think child, think parent, think family', calls for adult mental health and children's social care services to work together, in order to better meet families' needs. This approach is compared to the Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS) model being tested in three areas of Wales from April 2010; health and social care agencies will have a duty to provide support for families where parental problems are thought to pose risks to children.
