Annotation | The core principle of older people's forums is that they are owned and controlled by their members. Issues tackled include closures of local facilities such as post offices and day centres, and lobbying for improvements to local transport, social care and disabled access to buildings. There are more than 400 older people's forums in the UK, and more than 50 in the South West. This report presents results from responses to a questionnaire sent to chairs of forum members of the South West Seniors Network. The findings cover forum activities; what methods they use for influencing; examples of successful outcomes; and their overall benefits. The report suggests future potential activities for the South West Seniors Network. (RH). |
