AnnotationThis is an Easy Read summary of the Green Paper, 'Shaping the future of care together', which looks at why we need a new care and support system and why there is a need to change things. It summarises what can be expected from the new system: prevention services, national assessment, easy assessment process, information, personalised care and support, and fair funding. It also looks at alternative ways of paying for the system: pay for yourself, partnership, insurance, a comprehensive system, or paid for out of tax money. Also suggested are changes to the disability benefits system for over 65s. There is a question and answer section on the consultation, which closes on 13 November 2009. (RH).
