AnnotationAs part of Counsel and Care's influencing programme, VotingAge is a campaign by older people to address their needs, leading up to the next general election. Whilst the 2009 Green Paper 'Shaping the future of care together' deals with issues around care and support, there are concerns that the needs of older people beyond health and social care are not being taken into consideration. This report discusses the themes arising from a consultation on what older people want to be included in a manifesto: poverty and pensions; respect, influence and intergenerational relationships; healthcare and caring; neighbourhoods and the environment; age discrimination; the media; lifelong learning; information and advice; and political commitment. The recommendations and themes are aimed at all political parties, who should not make any assumptions on how older people will be voting. (RH).
