AnnotationIt took nine months for Gill Reeve's GP practice to diagnose her symptoms as ovarian cancer. She wants to know why it took so long. This is one of a series of occasional articles by patients about their experiences that offer lessons to doctors. Stuart Mackay-Thomas presents a doctor's perspective, that although knowledge and detection of ovarian cancer is improving, the symptoms are "insidious and variable". A typical GP will see one new patient with ovarian cancer only every five years. (RH).
