AnnotationIn November 2008, the Department of Health (DH) introduced the guide 'Your health, your way', aimed at promoting self-care for people with long-term conditions. In this short article, the Chief Executive NHS North West provides evidence of how self care can produce benefits for the patient, the clinician and the taxpayer. Following a national pilot, the Self Care for You course is being offered across five primary care trusts (PCTs): Bolton, Bury, Cumbria, East Lancashire, and Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. The course aims to help participants to look at their lifestyles and health beliefs, and to distinguish healthy behaviour from unhealthy, and provides a starting point for self care. (RH).
