Annotation | The authors question whether the current emphasis on hyperacute stroke care to improve access to thrombolysis may distract attention and resources from a truly comprehensive stroke service. They refer to the National Audit Office (NAO) report on stroke services which was the impetus for the government's national stroke strategy; and in the light of criticism of the proposed stroke strategy for London, they look at current performance of stroke services.
