Annotation | The National service framework for older people (NSF) Standard One, Rooting out age discrimination, states that "NHS services will be provided, regardless of age, on the basis of clinical need alone. Social care services will not use age in their eligibility criteria or policies, to restrict access to available services". This document reports on an initial audit of age-related policies carried out across 73.6% of the NHS. While awareness has been raised of age discrimination as an important issue, there is wide variation, and some age-related policies have been identified. Included as an annex is the 'Audit of policies for age-related criteria: a guide' (August 2001). (RH). |
