Annotation | The Law Commission's Tenth Programme of Law Reform includes a project to review adult social care law in England and Wales. The Department of Health is the lead department for this project. The first stage of the project is to undertake a scoping review of adult social care law and to publish a report setting out the proposed agenda for the substantive project. In this summary, the Law Commission provides a brief overview of the areas of reform and the key areas the Commission believes should form part of a review of adult social care. These include: community care and carers' assessments; hospital discharge; eligibility for services; service provision; charging for services; direct payments; the health and social care divide; safeguarding adults from abuse and neglect; and complaints and redress. Care standards and regulation will not be considered, having been subject to recent and ongoing reform. (KJ/RH). |
