AnnotationIn August 2008, estimates of the 'Population by country of birth and nationality' were published for the first time by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) from the Annual Population Survey (APS). Tables were published for the calendar years 2004 to 2007. This article provides an analysis of the published figures, and some background information about the APS. Country of birth and nationality are both self-reported by respondents to the APS. Those with dual nationality may report either of their nationalities at interview, as a person's nationality can change over time; however their country of birth is fixed. (KJ/RH).
