Running a care home | Author(s) | Ann Mackay |

Annotation | Services that are commissioned need to balance demands for higher standards, the needs of local communities and person-centred delivery with ever-tightening budgets. This has yet to be achieved for the care home sector, where the cheapest services are chosen at the cost of quality. Recognition of care homes as an investment and the setting of rates based on what it takes to actually run a care home are needed. An earlier version of this article was published in Working with Older People (vol 12, issue 4, December 2008). (RH). |
