AnnotationThere has been research in recent years highlighting how, for some, communities are malfunctioning. This article discusses how policy-makers and local government need to listen to the voice of older people when designing the communities we live in. It highlights how simple, joined-up thinking can make the difference to older people's lives. An earlier version of this article was published as 'Explaining about ... building to last', in Working with Older People (vol 12, issue 2, June 2008). (RH).
