Annotation | The Government is about to publish an "Ageing strategy", which will be a "refreshed" version of 'Opportunity age' (2005). In anticipation, this policy bulletin notes other government policy initiatives and strategies as background that are relevant to the home improvement agency sector. These include: Public Sector Agreement 17 (PSA17), Tackle poverty and promote greater independence and well-being in later life; 'Lifetime homes, lifetime neighbourhoods'; 'Preparing for our ageing society' (Department for Work and Pensions, 2008); and the call for information on social exclusion by the Social Exclusion Task Force (SETF) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). In due course, Foundations will analyse the Ageing Strategy to understand the role home improvement agencies can have in supporting the strategy's aims. (RH). |
