Annotation | The fifth anniversary of the Second World Assembly on Ageing was in 2007, during which there was an assessment of progress in the implementation of the major international policy framework adopted by the Assembly - the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing. This article reports on the 2007 review and appraisal of the Plan, and announces that the UN Programme on Ageing is preparing a strategic implementation framework based on an analysis of national activities since 2002. It will also suggest policy priorities for the years 2008-2012, including the identification of measures for international cooperation to support national action. (KJ/RH). |
