Annotation | The Government is expected to publish a Green Paper on the future of care and support in England in Spring 2009. This report considers the role of care and support in promoting human rights equality and good relations. It draws attention to existing provision in the Human Rights Act 1998, and to likely provision in the Equality Bill and Welfare Reform Bill (session 2008/09). It sets out the vision of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) of an infrastructure of care and support, that acts as a "springboard" by promoting and sustaining individuals' capabilities to maximise control over their own lives and improve their well-being.
