AnnotationNow that the long-awaited national dementia strategy 'Living well with dementia' has been published, the race is on to overcome the stigma surrounding the condition and to spread the word about available treatments. This article points to the lack of knowledge among primary care professionals which leads to dementia often going unmanaged. It includes reactions from the Alzheimer's Society and the Mental Health Foundation (MHF); the example of the Cornish Dementia Campaign; and a case study of a man in his late 70s and his experience of deteriorating memory and his family's dealings with the local NHS trust.
