Annotation | The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) analyses research findings behind an area of social work practice, teaching and learning about human growth development of older people (HGDOP), on which there is a shortage of evaluative literature. It considers approaches to HGDOP teaching and learning, the aims of which include: theoretical understanding; shifting attitudes; building on skills; reflective practice; driving up standards of practice; and increasing interest in the area. It suggests that practice can be shaped by, among other things, outside involvement, practice learning, and assessment. Short abstracts are presented for five items that have a focus on older people's development, including the 'UK study of abuse and neglect of older people: qualitative findings' (Comic Relief / Department of Health, 2007).
