AnnotationThis is a quick reference guide for healthcare professionals who prescribe and review medicines. The guideline was developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Primary Care, which is based at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP). It is produced in view of the finding that between a third and a half of medicines that are prescribed for long-term conditions are not used as recommended. This guideline is produced to help the practitioner understand non-adherence and how it can best be approached, for example by involving patients in decisions about medicines and reviewing long-term medicine prescribing.
