Annotation | If only 15% of people with dementia in the UK are receiving treatment, compared to 40% in Sweden, France and other affluent countries (as calculated in a recent study the author has found), what hope does this offer for those with mental illness in less affluent societies? This article suggests that while not all treatment for mental illness be expensive, it also asks how can developing countries deal with the problem? Prevention, screening and community-supported options are options which this article discusses. (RH). |
