AnnotationIn 1999, Age Resource, the younger arm of Age Concern, received funding from the Home Office and the National Lottery Charities Board to set up outreach taster sessions (OTS) to volunteers in fifteen Age Concern areas. The funding provided a laptop computer, projector, colour printer and mouse for each area. In order to evaluate how the OTS had been received, Age Resource collaborated with the Department of Information Science (DIS) at Loughborough University to conduct a survey of the volunteers who led the OTS in one of the areas, Leicestershire and Rutland. OTS was observed in action at a day care centre and a senior citizens forum, and this report by a DIS student at Loughborough presents findings and recommendations in relation to this example of an Internet training initiative for older people.
