Annotation | The post-war baby boomer generation (those born 1945 to 1954) have been at the forefront of social change throughout their lives. This age cohort is the subject of research carried out between 2005 and 2007 funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) examining the extent to which baby boomers exist as a "generation" and the extent to which they share patterns of consumption, perceptions of ageing, and experiences of work and retirement. This article summarises the main findings of 'Boomers and beyond: intergenerational consumption and the mature imagination', by Rebecca Leach and Chris Phillipson (Keele University) and Simon Biggs (King's College, London). The main report and related papers are available on the ESRC website (at www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk). (RH). |
