AnnotationDepression is associated with poor cognitive function, though little is known about the relationship between psychological well-being and cognitive function. This study aimed to determine whether psychological well-being as measured by CASP-19 was associated with performance on multiple neuropsychological tests of cognitive function. Participants were 11234 non-institutionalised adults aged 50+ from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. (ELSA) in 2002. Higher levels of psychological well-being were found to be associated with better global cognitive function and performance in multiple cognitive domains. The same pattern of association was observed for men and women across all cognitive domains. (RH)
