AnnotationThis issue further explores the question (first raised in vol 19, no 4), how do religiousness and spirituality influence older peoples' ability to cope with the stresses and losses of late life? It focuses on the more concrete health and disability concerns, such as heart disease and visual impairment. Each of the four studies suggests that religiousness and spirituality are inherently multidimensional constructs, which play multifaceted roles in health and disability-related coping. In particular, research on this issue investigates dimensions of religiousness and spirituality other than service attendance, which is typically affected by illness and disability in later life. In addition, the associations of spirituality and religiousness with coping and other outcomes of culturally diverse elderly participants are behaviourally diverse. (KJ/RH).
