AnnotationIn a cross-sectional study of a sample of 402 people aged 65+ visiting the Community Health Centre of Aga Khan University, Karachi, questionnaire based interviews were conducted and the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) was used to screen for depression. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses performed, with the following factors identified as being associated with depression: higher number of daily medications, total number of health problems, urinary incontinence, and inadequately fulfilled spiritual needs. These risk factors need to be taken into account by family doctors and health care workers. (RH).
