AnnotationTo tie in with the State Pension Centenary Campaign, this pamphlet outlines the history of the battle for the first old age pension from the 1890s, when there was no state financial provision for old age. Campaigning continues in the early 21 century for a basic state pension that is above the official poverty line of £161 a week for all men and women, and for the pension to be increased annually in line with earnings.
