AnnotationA newly-qualified social worker who trained specifically to return to the world of palliative care where she was previously a care workers questions why this area of the profession struggles to be taken seriously by others, including social workers. She feels very strongly that social work interventions can enhance the end-of-life care that everyone should receive. Social workers can and must be better prepared to work with loss, dying and bereavement. The changing nature of social work education offers a clear opportunity to emphasise the importance of palliative care. (RH).
