Annotation | The Commission for Local Administration in England was created by Part III of the Local Government Act 1974. The purpose of the Commission is to provide independent, impartial and prompt investigation and resolution of complaints of injustice caused through maladministration by listed authorities, and, to offer guidance intended to promote fair and effective administration in local government. Its current Chairman is Tony Redmond since November 2001. A merger of this Ombudsman with the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman is desired but not of immediate prospect, hence the co-location of all three Ombudsmen at Millbank Tower and the change from Ombudsman to Ombudsmen in the organisation's name with the 2005/06 report.
