Annotation | In the context of a disappearing retirement age and the growing clout of the baby boomer generation, the author discusses whether delivering services that are defined by age is really the best option for all. The recently published Equalities Bill proposes the banning of discrimination based on age in relation to the provision of goods and services. There is much expertise within older people's mental health services, particularly for dementia care, and this must be protected. This article focuses on the ability of mental health services to make universal provision to the over 65s. (RH). |
