| Annotation | This article examines differences in mortality between rural and urban areas in England and Wales in the years 2002-04 using the Rural and Urban Area Classification 2004. The analysis includes adjustment using the Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004 and Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation 2005 to investigate whether mortality differences between rural and urban areas could be explained by differences in the distribution of deprivation.
