AnnotationOn 13 May 2008, the first national care and support stakeholder event was held in London. Chaired by David Brindle, Public Services Editor at The Guardian, stakeholders debated the reform of the care and support system with amongst others, Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Health. This stakeholder event was held as part of the consultation process that accompanies the discussion document which sets out the case for an open debate about the long term future of England's care and support system. Further useful updates, a series of events, and general information about independent living will be available on the website (www.careandsupport.direct.gov.uk). The consultation period runs from May to November 2008. (KJ/RH).
