AnnotationThe Act, which came into force on 15 January 2007, makes provision for, and in connection with, criminal liability for fraud and obtaining services dishonestly. It is based on the recommendations of the Law Commission report "Fraud" (Law Com no 276, Cm 5560; TSO, 2002). The Crown Prosecution Service website (at www.cps.gov.uk/legal/section8/chapter_d.html) includes link to that report and the Act, as well as providing explanatory notes on the Act. The Act applies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. (RH).
