AnnotationThe US Health and Retirement Study (HRS) is the leading resource for data on the combined health and economic circumstances of Americans aged 50+. It began in 1992 and is managed jointly by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan. The introduction notes the features of the HRS, and that it is a model for other longitudinal studies, for example in the UK, the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA). This volume presents results mainly for 2002 under the following broad themes: health; work and retirement; income and wealth; and family characteristics and intergenerational transfers. (RH).
