AnnotationThe Action for Carers and Employment (ACE National) project led by Carers UK, was funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) EQUAL Community Initiative Programme. The project sought to examine barriers faced by carers in entering, re-entering or remaining in the labour market. The long-term goal was to mainstream the support offered to carers. This report explores ACE National's scope, impact and achievements, and the lessons learned through the innovative activities and approaches undertaken. The authors prepared this report as part of the independent evaluation commissioned from the Centre for Social Inclusion at Sheffield Hallam University. Among achievements highlighted are partnership working, empowering individual carers, the City and Guilds e-learning programme 'Learning for Living', working with local employers, and sharing ideas and experiences. A further final evaluation report (dated 3/2/08) for the EQUAL Programme is available to download from the website. (KJ/RH).
