AnnotationThe Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) consultation document 'Informal adult learning - shaping the way ahead' sought views to help shape a new vision for informal adult learning in the 21st century. Age Concern England (ACE) ran four workshops with 46 older learners (83% female, 71% aged 70+, and 74% white). The workshops were conducted in south-east England, the West of England, and the Midlands. This policy response presents findings and comments from participants on forms of involvement in informal adult learning; the benefits and motivations, and access and barriers to learning; whether public funding should be available; and the future of learning in general and for individual participants.
