KeywordsPostal services ; Closure.
AnnotationThe post office network is said to be losing £4 million a week - a seemingly strong enough argument for change. The author explains Age Concern England's campaign against the planned closures, and argues that post offices play a much more vital role in people's lives that the public consultations have given credit. This is particularly important in rural areas where services are sparse, or where there would otherwise be poor access to financial services. As it is, provision of the post office card account (POCA) is likely to have ceased by 2010. (RH).
