AnnotationOlder people stress that to be engaged is more than just to have their rights respected, it is also to be consulted on what works and what doesn't before money is spent. This document includes examples of engagement activities in selected localities. Such activities take the form of informal social engagement, participation in voluntary and community groups, and participation in policy and service delivery. Work by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) on establishing standards for involving older people is seen as an important influence in developing effective engagement, such that older people feel they belong.
