Annotation | The authors describe the first steps towards involving users and carers as partners in teaching as part of the MSc in Applied Studies in Ageing and Mental Health at Staffordshire University. Students on the course come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, usually working in a setting with older people who have mental health problems. As part of the module in assessment and care planning, user was asked to teach one session, and two carers also taught some of the sessions. The aim was to give students a different experience of assessment and care planning. The authors discuss the impact on students and evolving plans to develop the work further. (RH). |
