Annotation | In the first of a series of articles, the authors describe the framework developed and used by the Newcastle Challenging Behaviour Service (NCBS), a community team serving 80 care homes in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The NCBS approach involves five stages: background assessment; assessment of triggers; assessment of challenging behaviour; formulation meeting; and interventions. The article describes the components of the framework used by NCBS: the features associated with problematic behaviours; and observing and understanding the behaviour. (RH). |
