Annotation | The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is seeking views on the possible introduction of a statutory duty on local authorities to respond to local petitions for local people. The Government intends to issue statutory guidance for local authorities on this subject. Age Concern England (ACE) responds that such "calls to action" should be viewed as just one means of gauging concerns about local issues. For example, local authorities should be particularly pro-active in seeking the views of excluded older people through a variety of ways. (RH). |
