Annotation | Nursing home complaints investigation procedures are established by each US state's respective legislation. This study's purpose was to determine and describe the content of state statutes that included nursing home report and investigation of abuse. All states and the District of Columbia have statutes concerning the licensure and recertification of nursing homes. 14 states have statutes specifically on the topics of abuse reports and investigation in nursing homes - and have coverage of reporting requirements, mandatory reporting and definitions.
